The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) dates back to more than 100 years, for Alexandria Stock Exchange was established in 1883 while Cairo Stock Exchange was established in 1903.
Currently it is considered the best in emerging markets in terms of size, stability, & consistent steady growth.
In its continuous efforts to upgrade its services to market participants as well as harmonize with international capital markets, EGX has re-classified all its listed companies into 17 new sectors.
The determination of the new 17 sectors by EGX aims at providing the investing public with a classification of the listed companies on the basis of homogeneous characteristics that relate to the companies’ economic activities and main business revenues.
EGX new sector classification was undertaken after extensive review and analysis of various global classification methodologies for over six months.
